Career Day

During a school day in April, Norton High will be holding a Career Day for students. The Class of 2011 has been given the responsibility of choosing prizes for the various raffles held throughout that day. Our class has been granted $50 to spend on whatever we chose for prizes for the raffles. Below is a list of some ideas so far to spend the prize money on:

Sweatpants

At last! The shipment of NHS Sweatpants has arrived and can be purchased in Mr. Grasso's room, or at a lunch with a delegate who is selling them.
Prices:
$8 per bag
$25 for sweatpants
$30 for both, what an amazing price!

Make sure to get your NHS apparel fast because there is only a limited supply of each.

Dodgeball Tournament

The Class of 2011 is in the process of planning a schoolwide Dodgeball Tournament. The format of play would be a point system, involving numerous teams. Each win awards your team a point, and the top teams after each round will advance. The rules will be issued at a later time but the gameplay will involve 3 balls. PRIZES will be awarded. More information on pricing, time, and teams is to follow.

Bags and Pants

At last, the shipment of Norton Sling Bags has arrived! We currently have 100 bags in stock available at a outstanding price of $8. We are in the process of ordering sweatpants, black with LANCERS down the left leg. Hopefully, we will have them in early February and can start unloading them at $25 per pant. The Class of 2011 is offering an amazing combination deal, pants and bag for $30.

Sling Bags

Our class has been working hard to generate some money for future events. We have decided to sell Sling Bags with an awesome design created by one of our own delegates. The bags will be ordered soon so they should arrive sometime in mid-late January. Leave your opinion of the bag design if you wish.

We will be holding an important Snowball Committee meeting after school in Rm #206 on Tuesday, Nov. 25th. All sophomore delegates should plan to attend and any other sophomores who wish to attend are welcome. Just about all of the plans are finished; we will be discussing a few important details related to decorations and food. We'll also be going over everything we've accomplished thus far. Everyone's been working hard, and it looks like that hard work is about to pay-off with a great dance! Thanks in advance to all who attend the meeting on Tuesday!

The Prom Committee has made a decision and will be officially booking the venue on Tuesday. The long awaited choice on where the Prom will be held in 2009-2010 goes to LAKE PEARL LUCIANO'S in Wrentham. More info will be available in the future.

November Update

Hey Sophomores! The Class of 2011 officers and delegates have been hard at work the past few weeks. Prom, Snowball, and Class Fundraising have all been topics that the class has worked on. The 2010 Prom location has not been set yet, but we are close. We will let you know where the Prom will be held in the upcoming weeks. Snowball is set for December 5th, and the DJ is JProductions. The Snowball Committee is working on decorations to make this Snowball the GREATEST EVER! Sweatpants are looking good for our class fundraiser with the possibility of purchasing a NHS Sling Bag along with the sweatpants. The order for the sweatpants will probably not go through until after Snowball when the Class has a little more $$$. Check back here for more information. Go Lancers!!

Class Dues

The Sophomore Class is now collecting Class Dues. The dues are the same as last year, $40. If you have not paid your Freshman dues, then you are not eligible to participate in any class events. Below are some of the extra curricular activities that you are not able to take part in if you haven't paid your dues:
-Snowball
-ANY class event(including Senior Cruise, Six Flags, etc.)
-Not able to receive parking space
-Not able to walk across stage for graduation
-Not able to attend PROM

*Class delegates & officers will be collecting dues, or you can give them to Mr. Grasso in his room(206)

Class Update

Hey guys. It has been awhile since our last meeting(BTW, there is a full delegate meeting next week). Over the past few weeks the Prom/Snowball/Merchandise commitees have been meeting to plan the events/fundraisers for the remaining school year. Below is a sketch of what has been accomplished:
Prom:
-Venues: Gillette
*Gillette is the only venue that has been visited and the deadline to tell Mr. Grasso about meeting with venues was Monday 10/20. Not good. Right now we're are booking Gillette.
Snowball:
-Likely December 5th
-Likely DJ is JProductions
-Need to fill out necessary forms
-Need decorations
Merchandise:
-Class T-Shirts
-Sweatpants
*Hope to have both sold to class and school by Christmas
Fundraising for Future Years:
-NEED to volunteer at TPC, yes we do get paid for the amount of volunteers we have
-Gillette Stadium Training Camp(supervise moonwalks, etc.)
-Class Events

DUES:
Class Dues are $40 this year. Mr. Grasso in collecting dues in his room (206) everyday. IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID YOUR FRESHMAN DUES, YOU CAN NOT ATTEND ANY CLASS EVENTS INCLUDING SNOWBALL. MAKE SURE YOU PAY YOUR DUES!

Lancers Dominate 35-7

What a game! The Lancers improved there record to 4-0 after a Friday nights win over Dover-Sherbon 35-7. Senior Sean Ryan ran for 4 TD's bringing his season total to 13. The Lancers defense was spectacular in front of a huge energetic crowd. Check out some video and pics of the game at FOX 25 website. GO LANCERS!

Dover-Sherbon vs. Norton 10/3

Hopefully everyone is planning on attending Friday nights Football game. Fox 25 will be at the game filming our awesome undefeated team to be shown on the 11 o'clock news. Before the game, there will be a tailgating party held in the NHS parking lot. Pizza and drinks will be available to all who show. Go Lancers!

Delegate Criteria

Guidelines : Suggestions- following these will help you become a better Delegate.
1. Three Comments on the Blog per Term : Read the blog regularly, this is where sign-ups will be from now on. If you have forgotten anything, all important information will be posted on the blog.
2. Three Hours of Community Service per Semester : These can be completed by volunteering to do something for our class (i.e. selling at the Bake Sale), or volunteering for another club, organization or charity
3. Don’t Miss More than Three Meetings Unexcused : The more meetings you attend, the better off you’ll be in terms of keeping up; reasonable excuses include : sports, extra help, other meetings, doctor’s appointment, or absence from school
4. You Must do Everything You Sign-Up to Do : If you signed-up for something that you can’t do, tell us, we won’t be mad, we just need to know so we can plan accordingly- we are relying on you guys to follow your obligations, just like you’re relying on us to do ours
5. Join at Least Three Committees this Year : From now on, most of our meetings will be Committee Meetings, so joining committees will help you stay involved. Just remember not to take on more than you can handle (refer to Guideline # 4).
6. Respect Fellow Delegates at All Times : Disrespecting includes talking over each other, interrupting each other, bad-mouthing, etc., Don’t be a hater, Show us that you care.
7. No Delegate Will Ever Receive Preferential Treatment : If you feel that a Delegate is being treated differently, don’t hesitate to tell one of us.
8. Go the Extra Mile : Do something special, come up with an idea, chair a committee, stay after meetings, work hard on something you signed-up for, recruit new delegates (they are welcome at any meeting), find an empty niche and fill it; whatever you can do to help raise spirit and funds for our class.

Policies : These are Rules- following them will keep meetings short and allow officers to maintain sanity.
1. Raise your hand to talk, and refrain from conversation.
2. Don’t talk over each other.
3. Stay in seats, or at least be facing front, and please do not block fellow Delegates’ views.
4. No texting or irrelevant conversations during meetings.
5. You must do everything you sign-up to do.
6. Save ideas for the blog or our next meeting.
7. If you want to talk about something that does not appear on the Meeting Agenda, please wait until the ‘Ideas?’ part of the meeting to bring it up.
8. No Delegate will ever receive preferential treatment.

-if you repeatedly break any of the policies and/or interrupt meetings, you will be asked not to come back

-Leave a comment if you agree with the criteria, or tell us why you don't agree

Merchandise Committee

Leave your name here if you would like to be on the Merchandise Committee. This committee will decide what custom products we should buy and sell this year. Sign-ups will be on the blog only, not in a meeting, so make sure to leave us a comment with your name, and tell us if you can attend the October 15th meeting. 1. First ask if they do Saturday proms( if they don't, there is no reason to ask further questions)
2. Do they have a minimum amount to spend (money to put down)?
3. How far away from Norton are they?(45 minutes is the max)
4. How many people can they hold? (min. capacity is 350)
5. When can you tour the ballroom/venue?
6. Ask for any information they can send you.(menus, brochures, etc.)

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday September 10, 2008 in Mr. Grasso's room. The class breakfast, Prom, and a fundraiser will be the main topics during this meeting. Go to our Facebook group for info on what happened at the first meeting, and a list of some of the things we hope to accomplish this year. Thanks to everyone who attended the first meeting- we got enough ideas form you guys to fill two years!

The Officers need help deciding on ways the Sophomore class are going to raise funds next year. Post any ideas you have for items you would like to see sold or any unique fundraising events.

*There are still Norton Lancer Towels for sale. If interested visit Mrs. Iozzi. The price for a towel is $16.00. They make great graduation gifts for the Seniors leaving for college.
